Craig Weimer DC, CCSP, DABCO
As a chiropractor Dr. Weimer has unique training enabling him to dig down and focus on the root causes of your condition, rather than focusing solely on symptom control. No other practitioner has the training and focus to look for and find areas of fixation and misalignment called subluxations or segmental somatic dysfunctions. Dr. Weimer looks beyond the gross issues of fractures or dislocations etc. and evaluates and treats appropriate conditions at the core functional level. Through his undergraduate and graduate training in chiropractic and his extensive post graduate training and certifications he is often able to ease or eliminate conditions more quickly. He is often able to give relief and correction those that have failed traditional treatments.
Dr. Weimer utilizes a hands on approach to determine the root cause of your pain and dysfunction and to treat it. By finding areas of fixation and misalignment that can cause pain at the joint and can affect the nerves associated to that spinal level, he can address your problem at the source. Adjustment /Manipulation is performed using precise positioning of the affected joint with a gentle directed impulse to unlock the injured joint and re-align it. This restores proper function and reduces or eliminates your symptoms.
Dr. Weimer will identify tight, shortened and knotted muscles. He will find irritated nodules called trigger points that can cause local pain and radiate pain to adjacent tissues. He uses localized massage, stretching, myofascial release and ischemic compression to release these areas for a better, lasting correction. Also available at The Center for Integrated Medicine are massage therapists and myofascial specialists right there in the same office for more extensive work.
Dr. Weimer will show you simple exercises to address weak and or tight muscles that may be contributing to your core fixations and misalignments and preventing you from maintaining any corrections that have been made. These can be done at home without a large investment in time. If you need instruction in the gym or sport wise, Dr. Weimer can provide this too.
Dr Weimer uses modalities such as electrical muscle stimulation and therapeutic ultrasound to help loosen tight and spastic tissues, to reduce pain and to promote healing.
Dr. Weimer does not administer acupuncture services himself. He relies on dedicated medical professionals who are experts in this field to deliver acupuncture treatments most effectively. Acupuncture services are available right in the same convenient location at The Center for Integrated Medicine.
The Center for Integrated Medicine at UPMC Hospital Shadyside brings together practitioners from many disciplines to address your problem. They use non-invasive procedures to try and correct the base causation of your condition.
